Daily pic #00071: The Wester Wall
The Western Wall (Ha-Kotel) is a small western segment of the walls surrounding the Temple Mount, erected by Herod around 19 BCE.

The blocks of the wall's lower courses are cut from the Jerusalem stone (Meleke limestone) and weigh between 2 and 8 tons each.
